Anonymous asked: PS, I SINCERELY apologize if I got you in any trouble with that question. I didn't think people would over-analyze your feelings on a theoretical (not actual) topic. Was just looking for insider's perspective and you actually respond to your fans. You can totally delete it, and you don't have to respond to this, just read. You absolutely should play the leading man more often, and make more coin for all the hard work you put in. And you are NOT weird looking. You're a gorgeous gorgeous man. BYE!
I don’t think you got me in trouble. I think both the questions and my answers were fair and honest. Ideally, there would be a system in place where artistic and creatively ambitious films made for less money(but not the no-budget model in place for independent films now) were part of some kind of structured system, be it studio or independent. That way, artists creating good film and television wouldn’t be struggling so much. The music industry collapsing and the new DIY way of making money touring and selling merch does not really work for the film business. There are far too many people required to make, distribute and market a film so that it is profitable to make it viable. Four dudes can’t hop in a van and go around the country. There is significant capitol that needs to be put up to make a successful movie for the most part. I like the spirit and ideas behind that but it is entirely unrealistic for the film business. And even though it is my art first and foremost, it is how I make my living as well. If I had to take a day job, I wouldn’t have time to write(which is my main source of income at the moment) and act in films for next to no money like CHEAP THRILLS or COMPLIANCE or THE INNKEEPERS. Films that not only allow me to hone my craft, but bring me to the attention of a wider audience which then gets me bigger jobs for more money.
And thanks for the compliments! xo
Anonymous asked: what's it like rooting for the downfall of the big studio system and "giant robot/superhero movies" while also being in Captain America: The Winter Soldier?
It happens to be a good movie. I just wish something other than ONLY movies like that made money.
Anonymous asked: Are you excited for the film studio system collapse and the subsequent next wave akin to the 70's? I certainly am because that was a fucking amazing decade for movies. How many more john carter from mars-sized fails until it happens, you think? <3U
I would be excited if I knew that were definitely the case. The problem is the studios are owned by mega-huge conglomerates now who can absorb the losses with their few giant robot/superhero movies a year. And it’s a little scary right now figuring out how to make a living doing what I’ve done my whole career. Things are tough all over.
But your hypothetical situation sounds great! The movies from that era are the greatest ever and weird-looking guys like me could be the leading man. Let’s hope that happens sooner rather than later!
Thanks! <3 U too!

Anonymous asked: You're simply the coolest. One of the best actors around. Hope Hollywood will get their butts out of their heads and take more notice. They might be doing that presently, but hopefully more and more with time. X
Thank you! I’m doing the best work of my life now and feeling good. I feel the love of people like you and that honestly counts for a lot. I just need for it to start paying well!
